The Enfield and District Organists Association (EDOA) aims to provide a stimulating forum for those interested in the pipe organ and its music whether they be active participants or enthusiastic observers.
It seeks to enhance the education and enjoyment of organ music among its members and to encourage a wider appreciation of the pipe organ as an instrument.
The EDOA region covers an area of Hertfordshire, Middlesex and north London roughly corresponding to the southern part of the Anglican Diocese of St Albans, and the Episcopal Areas of Edmonton and Willesden in the Anglican Diocese of London.
Regardless of its handy ecclesiastical boundaries, the EDOA welcomes members from all faiths, and none.
The EDOA has an excellent rapport with its neighbouring organists' associations, especially the Essex Organists' Association, to the north-east,
and the The City of London Organ Society to the south and east.
The EDOA President is Terence Atkins, Organist and Choirmaster of St John the Baptist Church, Chipping Barnet and Director of the Elstree Singers. He was Head of Music in two Hertfordshire schools, but now teaches privately; and he also works as an accompanist and examiner.
All EDOA members receive a regular newsletter that keeps them up-to-date not only with the business of the EDOA, and specific EDOA events (such as concerts, recitals, lectures, visits and social activities), but also with organ-related news, views and events from across the wider region.
The EDOA is affiliated to the Incorporated Association of Organists, which gives the EDOA a voice at national and international levels and brings EDOA members the opportunity for a reduced subscription to the IAO's quarterly journal, Organists' Review.
By bringing together people of all ages and abilities with a common interest in the organ, EDOA offers musical support and fellowship as well as the benefit of access to a wide range of specialist expertise amongst the membership.
